SHIPMENTS

All shipments are subject to full containers, so book early to avoid missing out. As shipping agents Get Routed offer the following shipping service – for 2024 there will be shipments from Australia – ex Melbourne, ex Sydney & ex Brisbane – all subject to a minimum of 10 bikes. If less than 10 bikes in Brisbane & Melbourne, all bikes will be loaded in Sydney.

Please understand that we do not control global shipping movements, and unexpected issues can occur. While we strive to have your bike delivered to Barcelona when you want it, factors such as weather and delays from shipping companies can sometimes interfere with our best efforts. Although these occurrences are rare, they can be frustrating for both you and us. We take all possible precautions to avoid such situations.

INCLUDED

Our pricing covers all essential aspects of your motorcycle’s journey. This includes:

Container hire, which provides secure containers to safeguard your motorcycle during transit.
We also cover sea freight costs from Australia to Spain and back.
Our experienced team manages both Spanish and Australian customs clearance and necessary quarantine inspections to ensure compliance with international regulations.
Additionally, we take care of the professional loading and unloading of your motorcycle at both ends.

The return shipping price for standard-size bikes (less than 2.3 meters long) is $5145, which covers most bikes. Due to the larger space they occupy in the container, long bikes (2.3 meters or longer) have a return shipping price of $8975. One-way prices are $3885 for standard-size bikes and $5985 for long bikes. For very large bikes such as Gold Wings, BMW K1200LTs, sidecars, and trikes, please ask for a quote. We offer secure storage facilities at our depots in Felixstowe and Barcelona, available for £15 and 35 Euros per week, respectively.

EXCLUDED

To keep our service transparent and focused, the following are not included in our standard pricing:

Motorcycle transport to Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane is not covered.
Furthermore, Bike Insurance in the container these costs are now not included in the bike shipping costs.
Bike Storage Fee – secure storage is available at our Felixstowe and Barcelona depots for £15 and 35 Euros per week, respectively.

IMPORT

Rules and Oversight:

Australia has strict import rules overseen by the Department of Transport & Regional Services (DOTARS).
Eligibility:The import document is called a Vehicle Import Approval (VIA). This is necessary to bring your bike back into Australia.

If you want to buy a bike overseas and have Get Routed ship it back to Australia you must have a current VIA.

Bikes more than 25 years of age are an easy application – ask Dave Milligan.

All bikes shipped back to Australia must have a VIA issued before loading at the destination port.

I guess you had your problems arranging the new depot in Botany, but we could not speak more highly of the staff, ease of getting there, and facilities, compared with the Homebush bay depot. Important Information For Customers

Wearing Hi-Viz vests is compulsory in all loading and unloading depots.
Your bike must be spotless when packed into the container for the return journey to Australia, as required by Quarantine Services. It is your responsibility to arrange for the cleaning of your bike before the return trip.
Ensure that petrol tanks have less than 2 litres of fuel. Bikes must be in neutral and unlocked before shipping.
Disconnect battery leads, and tape terminals and leads prior to shipping.
Remove all panniers from the bike before loading. A maximum of 3 items per bike are allowed.
Panniers should be unlocked, wrapped appropriately (I suggest using 2 or 3 layers of bubble wrap), and clearly labelled with your name and bike registration. If panniers are locked, a charge will be applied to retrieve the keys.
It is your responsibility to be at the Felixstowe depot on or before the return loading date. The depot address will be provided with the invoice.
A $600 deposit is non-refundable.
Your bike should be delivered to our depot approximately four days before the shipping date. The shipment from Australia takes approximately 41 days. The invoice will provide the exact dates and the delivery address.
Your passport will be needed to collect your bike in Barcelona. This is required to prevent unauthorised claims.
If you pack jackets, riding pants, gloves, boots, or helmets into your panniers, ensure they are dry. Moisture can cause mould or mushrooms in your gear.
Any return shipment requires a minimum of 10 bikes. If the distribution of bikes does not meet this minimum, it is the owner’s responsibility to collect the bike from the final destination.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What happens if I need to change my booking or have issues with the shipping dates?

Deposit: A $600 deposit is non-refundable but may be rolled over to a later shipment or refunded if you find someone to take your place.
Booking Changes: Reservations are not accepted within six weeks of the shipping date, except in exceptional circumstances.

What documents and preparations are needed for bike collection and return?

Proof of Ownership: You must present your passport to collect your bike in Barcelona.
Packing Personal Gear: Ensure jackets, riding pants, gloves, boots, and helmets packed in panniers are dry to avoid mould.
Minimum Bikes: A minimum of 10 bikes is required for a return shipment. If fewer bikes are available, you will need to collect your bike from the closest available depot.

What are the arrangements for bike collection and flight luggage?

Bike Collection in Barcelona: You can collect your bike from a depot chosen by our Barcelona Customs Broker who will assist with bike collection.
Flight Luggage: Label your suitcases and bags with your name and bike registration number in large letters. These will be transported to Felixstowe in the shipping container. If you can’t be there on bike collection day, you are responsible for arranging transport of your luggage to Felixstowe.

What should I know about travel and bike registration while in the UK and Europe?

Travel Insurance: It is strongly recommended that you have travel insurance. Feel free to contact Bernie Ryan at 0405 500 871 or email [email protected] for a discounted policy that covers motorcycle travel or arrange insurance on your own accord.
Bike Registration: You can use your Australian registration plate and licence in the UK and Europe for up to 6 months and three months, respectively. An International Driving Permit (IDP) is advised for touring Europe.
