2011 Isle of Man trip

2011 is the 100th anniversary of racing on the Mountain Circuit

We've decided (after the experience of 2007) that we will limit the number of bikes we ship in 2011 to just 100 bikes.

And since I wrote that I've changed my tiny mind again. There will be NO LIMIT on the number of bikes we ship to the UK for the TT in 2011. The only limit is the number of beds we can find for those wh want to go on this trip.

First in first served and only those who have paid deposits will be considered for this trip and the Giveaway prizes.

There's another good reason - after writing the above I decided that I wouldn't have enough accommodation in 2011 for that size group because some of the houses we used in 2007 are now not available because they have been sold or are already booked by other groups.

I've made a few phone calls and discovered that hundreds of people (Poms & Europeans) have made bookings and there's very few houses still available for 2011. I have booked a couple more than the ones already booked in our name and I'll be back on the IoM in September, 2009 inspecting a few more houses which I've managed to locate.

It's also first in first served for the limited accommodation I have booked.

7 Sept 2009 update

I've just come back from the IoM where (apart from attending the MANX GP meeting with a client group) I spent most of my time chasing more accommodation for the TT in 2011.

I am now very happy to announce that I have booked the entire Ginger Hall pub's accommodation - the rooms are twin & triple rooms and there's no double beds. The pub will accommodate 20 people and the locals tell me the food is of a very good standard. I reckon the beer is OK. Had to do a sample test.

I've also booked 2 lighthouse cottages in Castletown owned by Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear TV program. They hold 4 people each and are part of a disused lighthouse complex Clarkson bought a couple of years ago. The 3rd cottage is kept exclusively for Clarkson and family when they are on the IoM.

Ginger Hall pub is right on the TT course and from most of the rooms there is very good viewing of the racing. Over the next 6 months the pub is having a giant viewing platform built which will seat up to 200 people. The platform will be at roof level on top of the pub and is being built from the pub building across to an ancilliary building 10 meters apart and that it will contain bar and food facilities, according to the manager.

Here's a link to Google maps on the site of the Ginger Hall pub and here's a picture of this famous pub

1st November 2003.

The bloke who took this picture was standing right in the middle of the road - part of the TT Mountain Circuit - and would have been mown down by race bikes if he stood there during a race. Obviously he didn't, but this gives you some idea of how close the front of the pub is to the race circuit.

See the stone walled building to the right of the pub. The viewing platform will go from the pub to the top of the roof of that building. Should give great views of the racing.

GIVEAWAY - There will be 2 places given away when all the containers are full. That's 2 bikes shipped and accommodation for 2 people and ferry tickets for 2 bikes & riders. The package is worth $5986 so the giveaway value is a total of $11972.00.

Will you be one of the lucky winners?
